“Voice-agent share of implementer postings jumped 84% in 90 days.”
Voice agents were a curiosity 18 months ago — a demo at a conference, maybe a hobbyist project. In Q1 2026 they crossed an inflection: 7.57% of all active implementer roles now mention Vapi, ElevenLabs, Retell, or Bland as a required or preferred skill. That's up from 4.1% in February — an 84% jump in 90 days.
The deployments we're seeing aren't moonshot consumer apps. They are the most boring possible enterprise use case: patient triage, freight dispatch, customer service. Three deployments we tracked this week:
- A regional health system replaced a voicemail-rate-of-31% phone tree with a Vapi + Claude triage agent. Voicemail rate dropped to 6%. NPS +22.
- A national freight broker is running a fleet of voice agents that book carriers, confirming pickups in 90 seconds vs. the prior 14-minute human cycle.
- A SaaS company in the legal-ops space replaced their entire tier-1 support function with a voice agent backed by a 4-person human-in-the-loop team.
What's notable is that none of these used a custom-trained model. The deployment is almost entirely an integration job — exactly the FDE / Applied AI implementer wheelhouse.
If you're an implementer and you haven't shipped a voice deployment yet, the next 18 months are your window.
